What is a Corrective Exercise Specialist?
A Corrective Exercise Specialist(CES) is an expert who understands the science of human movement and uses it to help others achieve a better quality of life. A NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist has studied and been certified to have the knowledge of how to help clients and athletes optimize their movement quality and reduce movement habits that create discomfort, increase wear and tear, and interfere with proper movement. This specialization allows trainers to service a wide range of clients—including athletes and people who are post-treatment and post-rehab for musculoskeletal disorders.
They are trained to
Help clients reduce injury risk and maximize performance by strengthening stabilizing muscle groups, reinforcing proper movement patterns, and muscle activation.
Observe potential muscle imbalances and weaknesses to help improve movement and posture
Use the same advanced techniques utilized by performance staff across all major sports leagues
NASM’s Corrective Exercise Specialization covers advanced topics needed to assess and correct movement imbalances and compensations across all major joints.
